Food glorious food

We have started weaning Tristan (probably no more than 2 teaspoons a day if we are lucky). The ratio of food not in the mouth (indeed not even on him) to actually eaten is about 100:1

The first week we stuck to baby rice - which despite the picture on the box is pretty similar to wallpaper paste and about as tasty if Tristan's face is to be believed. These photos are of his first encounter with carrot (a success!) - which was the third thing we have tried. The first thing after rice was sweet potato - complete disgust, pear has been the only other thing and was pretty well received. Already he seems to prefer it if he feeds himself though, its just a shame that he sometimes mistakes his mouth for his ear!

Tristan has always been a difficult feeder (milk) so we decided that since he prefers feeding himself perhaps it would extend to milk too - this is his first experience with a baby cup which he had today and despite the colour he immediately took to it...

Press ups

Its getting very difficult to change his nappy now - as you see - as he seems to want to crawl already or do press ups at the least (that did not come from my side of the family!

He rolled over for the first time on his 4 month birthday - he doesn't quite seem to know how he does it and, whilst its funny to see his suprised face when it happens, its less amusing at night as it is yet another reason for him to wake up as he cries until he's turned over onto the 'correct' side again!

music maestro

A new boyband maybe...?

...and here's another little film of him hunting giraffe

A few smiles before going to sleep.

4 months

(minus 1 day)

Enjoying the sun, his first cap and sun glasses

This is the same day but a few degrees cooler; daddy took him to show him the exciting task of mowing the lawn (he then cut through the lawn mower cord blaming not being able to see it as Tristan came too far forward - it is for reasons like this that men don't get pregnant!).

Sleep 'walking'

well sleep shuffling really.

This is how he goes to sleep....

...and then when he cries at night we discover him in lots of strange positions with various limbs stuck out of his cot like the above. Strange really as he actually can't roll overe yet but does do an upside down crawl of sorts!

England 34-10 France

Tristan put on his new favorite shirt , just in time for the start of the rugby game.

Although he watched the game with Daddy, he seems to have enjoyed it more...

16 weeks

16 weeks old and yet more immunisations - 3 injections this time. Once again (second month in a row) they were on a Friday 13th which is just tempting fate a bit much, so we made Manu go in with him and he was almost disappointingly fine - obviously saves the screaming for his mum!

Sticking his tongue out is his way of greeting people at the moment but sometimes he seems to forget and goes a day without doing it - only to make up for it the next day!

We tried him in a door bouncer for the first time as well - he seemed to like it but his little legs were a bit short!

Express your self

At almost 15 weeks old Tristan is now a real little chatterbox and loves mimicing expressions.

He particularly seems to like the less cultivated ones (like sticking his tongue out or blowing spit bubbles).

This is the expression he had after a few photos - I think he's trying to figure out why daddy is hiding behind a black box!

And a little film ranging from smiles, pouts to cheekiness (all in the space of 30 seconds)

Birthday

So Tristan's not the only one to be getting older (although some of us combine it with getting greyer too). This was his present - I think its a hint to improve our parenting technique! He was very well behaved though in the restaurant waiting until we got a few minutes outside before crying (or perhaps it was his version of happy birthday). Think Manu is a bit worried as he now also has to worry about mother's day too twice as much as before...
Otherwise this week has seen us switch clothes age range (for Tristan not Helen!) and the realisation of just how much one little person can take over a house - 2 big boxes of clothes that are too small and a further 3 for future age groups, a room full of new clothes and we haven't even started to go through toys yet...
