Me and my mates

Here are just a few photos of Tristan from January as I just realised that I hadn't updated the blog for a while - he's much more photgenic than the rest opf us so I don't have to hunt too hard for updates (just for the words to go with it!)

These are my identical twin friends

With my absolute hero, Ethan, who is nine months older than me and teaches me all the tricks

and my long-standing (or here, sitting in my cart!) girlfriend, Imogen

To pee or not to pee!

Tristan is now potty (and 'big toilet') trained (in the day at least!). He chose to do it (the creche said he was breaking into the potty area and desperate to try, motivated by stickers and an enjoyment of splash sounds!). I wasn't that supportive as it seemed with the house it was the last thing we needed to be doing but its all gone really easily - although showing lots of enthusiasm for the potty contents is often beyond me! PS this is the current state of the loo-bit of our ensuite!

DIY progress

This is the downstairts loo replastered and Manu made a start on the floor. the depressing thing is that the day after it seems we have rising damp as there was a water mark up one side of the wall! Yes this has caused a stop while we get it assessed and hopefully we wont have to redo too much? Once again every 'simple' job is twice as complicated as we realised!

This is the start of the end of the play room! Tristan was trusted with the red paint in an area we thought he couldn't easily escape from! Alas we were wrong and wont be giving him the paintbrush again!

Me finishing up the bits Tristan missed. The plan (at least for me) is to put a playhouse on the left of the chimney on a platform with balcony (so a sort of treehouse minus the tree), a wood burning stove and a corner sofa - at the moment all these points are under harsh negotiation!

Things are slowing down now as it is just us which means at best an hour in the evenings and an hour during Tristan's siestas at the weekend. Its a bit frustrating, I'm hoping the new year, getting rid of colds (and the rising damp!) plus lighter evenings will provide a bit of impetus!

He's behind you!

Tristan went to see his first piece of theatre (ok it was the pantomine), 'Sleeping Beauty' . He loved it although got a bit scared when the wicked witch came on (dark green light and thunder noises, booo hiss!). We also got him a flashing 'hero's sword' which we shortly after had to remove as he tried to impale all his little friends!

Happy New Year

We went to Cardiff for New Year. It was the first time it felt like we had done something spontaneous with Tristan since his birth - just a night in a hotel with friends. He did really well too with sleeping and we almost made it to midnight (11.55 pm when we switched off the light - we'd come back a bit early from the centre as it was very very cold and we - if not Tristan - were shattered)!

This is the group of us early on watching some fireworks.
Trying out a ride with mummy. It was quite tedious as half way round it shot 'snow' (bubbles) right at you.

At the winter wonderland fishing for a duck ('every duck a prize') - the prize we chose was a magnetic duck fishing kit for the bath which is great - except our horrible pink bath is metal so you actually end up catching the bath rather than ducks!

And my first solo trip in a car with Evie (it wasn't really an eerie green light!)
