Christmas Day

This is Tristan first walking into the sitting room on Christmas day (its about 6.30 am!), please note the Christmas themed pajamas!

the calm before the wrapping paper starts flying (not that father Christmas has drunk the wine, eaten the mine pie Tristan and I had made - he must have a good constitution and Rudolph has even managed the carrot!)...

Tristan helping papa unwrap the suitably egocentric present he had got him (a picture of himself!).

And helping mummy unwrap a clue as to what her present was (one of those star movie mirrors, already set-up for me upstairs!

Tristan loved the Mr potato Head he got from his uncle (although didn't see why the features should be reserved just for a potato).

Also his farm set was a favourite and books (always books), here he is reading Gruffalo (iteration number 3) with grandma - no it wasn't cold but Tristan didn't think much of cracker hats and so decided he would wear his hat instead and Grandma had some nasty cold so was making full use of her snuggle blanket and large boxes of tissues!

The day went well, still some slush on the ground even if no snow actually fell. The 2nd turkey dinner either of had ever cooked turned out well even if we ended up having it as an early evening meal (we got confused about timings) and so actually had a Christmas day lunch of sausage risotto (very festive!)!

Festive singing

We had a very picturesque carol concert with the neighbours in their garden (plus mulled wine - it was freezing, you can see the snow around definitely deep and crisp and even!). Tris was fascinated by the trumpeters but a bit miffed that his two Christmas songs (see below) weren't played, although that didn't stop him blasting them out anyway!

Somewhat less tunefully, Tristan has been getting us all in the mood for Christmas (although like the 'happy birthday' before it went on for many months afterwards!)

Christmas Eve

(no, no reindeer for us!)
For some Christmas eve means midnight mass for others (well Tristan) it meant his first go on a steam train and his first meeting with Father Christmas - what a day! Add to that that Grandma had just arrived and you can imagine what the excitement level was like.

Unfortunately the heating wasn't as high as the excitment levels.

Tristan wasn't too sure of this man with a dodgy beard and was thinking about crying until he saw the present (a teddy bear - now named 'Billy').

Tristan's singing

He can do quite a few songs (or at least the salient words!).

Twinkle twinkle was the first, Baa baa black sheep is a favourite and he's been a bit stuck on happy birthday for a qhile now! We have been practicing jingle bells too.

Setting up for Christmas

Aunty Rachael very kindly made Tristan an advent calendar. He loves it but is not keen on the 'one a day' concept at all!

Tristan was very keen to help set the tree up, this is him helping while I am shouting "left a bit " to get the tree central

Kitchen part 2

The kitchen is pretty much working (that's of the gas would ever get connected (yep still no heating!).

There's a few bits to be done (the odd cupboard door here and there and agree on the island lights. The dishwasher started working on Wednesday and hasn't stopped (its amazing how nbadly I must wash dishes).

Still the rest of the room to do - its a bit like a kitchen showroom display as everything just stops (paint, floor etc.) and back to chaos. This is the view from the kitchen....
