Baby's first Christmas

Soppy moment - yes, Tristan is our main present! Ahh!
Tristan surveying all his kingdom - yes for those with good eyesight his top reads 'all mummy wants for Christmas is a silent night' - didn't work though!
Tristan hadn't realised until then that his 5 week birthday had a completely different meaning for everyone else... still he was happy to receive yet more presents including this sign of guineapig things to come (no, not from me, thanks Dave and Michelle for helping with the indoctrination!)

Manu is the only person in the country who hadn't had enough to eat (should have finished his sprouts) so he had to start on our 'snowman'...

Meet the family part 2

The Christmas period brought other family to meet him to play the game of 'whose nose is that..?'

Uncle (with a tentive grip...)

...and a doting grandma who is already well on the way to spoiling the boy totally!

Shadow Dancing

We discovered Tristan's favourite game by accident - making shadows.

This will keep him occupied and excited for at least half an hour (beating all other methods by about 28 minutes!), the only problem is you need sun and for it to be before 10am...

Meet the family part 1

(...the Blackpool cousins)

Tristan has a weekend of being taken care of by his 'big' cousins (and aunt and uncle of course).
He's quite heavy now - 9lb 11ozs - but realises he has a lot more growing to do before he can show the girls who's boss!

He was much admired and was happy to be seen out and about in the company of two such pretty ladies!

3 weeks old today...

Or should it be 3 weeks young?! Anyway he's a big serious boy now

and we celebrated by wearing trousers for the first time!

He didn't appreciate being made to wear his cold weather outfit with its little ears as he felt it was not distinguished enough for his age!

Yes, that makes the 3rd outfit and the day isn't even over!!

Tristan - day 16!

...So we know he was a big baby but here's what was responsible for most of that extra weight (BIG feet)!
This little one will eat anything to maintain his hefty size

Who says babies can't smile?

This is how I wake up

Christmas market in Winchester

Travel to Winchester, set the buggie, and here we go :

Three of us

Tristan was weighed today :

4.12 kg , (9lbs 1) , which means he has more than recovered his birth weight.

This is excellent news after all these nights spent feeding.

Here are a few shots of the 3 of us ( + 1 bear):

A day in my life

7 days old now and this was how I celebrated!

After a feed with Mummy and a cuddle with Daddy, I had a lay-on in bed (mostly sleeping!) until 10 o'clock...
At 12 O'clock, I went out for the first time in my buggy and finally got put in some decent 'adult' clothes (no more sleep suits making my bum look big!)...

The after all that I have a bit of a bath to relax me after the hectic day :

Then I shall go and support the best football team in the world ...

... before heading off (hopefully!) for a nice night's sleep... zzzzz.....

Tristan is back home

On Saturday the 22nd, we came back home from hospital

The first 2 nights here have been a bit difficult. He seems to be very awake at night and sleepy during the day. Manu thinks we should keep it that way and try to find him a night time job...

...we are all tired as a result

After a bath, feed and cuddle, the man is much more awake

Tristan is born

After a quick but intense labour, Tristan was born at 10:30 am.

Quite a suprise to finally discover what had been brewing inside for months.

He was all up for a cuddle with mummy:

Weighing in at 4.04 kg / 8lbs 14ozs

He is very very cute, but we would say that ...!

Where we live

We live about 1 hour by train west of London (that's the red A on the map).

Here's the tourist bit - its pretty central for lots of other places (Stonehenge, Bath, Oxford etc.) and has lots of nice walks mostly along canals, but also away from the water in places like Watership Down (a la the rabbit film!).

Some photos

Pregnancy

(aka Helen getting bigger)

No there's no before and after shots here - this is at 5 months though....

...and this one at 8.5 months (the shadow makes it bigger than it is!)

Our House

We moved in, in December 2005. The first thing we did (when faced with the mountain of boxes that we hadn't labelled as well as we thought!) was to prioritise - so we went out and bought a Christmas tree and unpacked the decorations first. This would have been fine if it hadn't been for a power cut that very evening and we spent 2 hours bumping into all the things we should have unpacked first!
